PQ Rap: How to Choose a Projector

Q: I'm making the leap to doing paperless CMA's.  What do you recommend I look for and where is the best place to buy one?

A: After years of working with projectors we have found the Proxima’s, Dell’s and Epson’s to be the most reliable and feature rich.  Your best price will be found on websites that specialize in projectors or at Staples or Office Depot – but it’s still worth it to check with Costco, Best Buy to see if they can match or beat the deal.  We’ve had great luck with ProjectorPeople.com and www.Staples.com and particularly like their review sections so you can really see what others have experienced.  They always have great prices as well.

Whatever you do, do not buy a used projector.  The bulbs get very hot so it’s easy for someone to have misused it by leaving it running too long or not letting it cool off properly and then you’ve just got junk since it typically costs more to repair than to buy new.
