Why Use Twitter?

I have to admit I was reluctant to join Twitter.  It just seemed a little juvenile to me honestly.  After all, why would people want to know I'm standing in line at the DMV or I just tripped on rock?  Seriously. 

Some of the examples I've seen of what people Twitter about conjures up images of the movie "Idiocracy".  But, to my surprise, it actually has some intriguing business applications.

As with any product, you'll see extremes.  I found a lawyer whose method of attracting followers is to brag about his latest female conquests.  Ugh.  But, there are others who are using it to build a loyal following of people who come to feel like friends and colleagues (perfect for the real estate sales business.)
